Netflix Announced That The Witcher Series Will End After Season 5

The Witcher used to be a globally famous brand for Netflix, but after many mistakes, Netflix finally had to announce the end of production after the 5th season.

The Witcher is a television series produced by Netflix based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Set in a fictional land called the Continent, The Witcher takes audiences along the journey of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri as all three are caught up in a vortex of power, love,... battles with countless monsters. The first three seasons of the series starred Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.

It can be said that adapting The Witcher is one of Netflix's wisest decisions. The first season created a global fever, combined with the reputation it had previously gained (through books and games), the TV series is even more supported. However, it was Netflix who ruined their "golden egg" by giving the writers too much freedom in writing, leading to a clear decline in the quality of The Witcher 2 and 3.

If in the first part the screenwriters still stuck closely to the original story and only slightly edited the characters and storytelling, then in the following parts they "crossed the line". Not only did it break the image of many characters that were loved by fans, but the film's writing team itself also encountered great criticism from fans with harsh and somewhat offensive statements.

Whatever will come will come, in the end Netflix had to sadly stop producing one of the most potential series they own. It was originally intended to be seven films, but due to many different reasons such as Henry Cavill leaving the role of White Wolf, the number of followers decreased dramatically and the writing team became a thorn in the audience's eyes, causing The film's reputation was heavily affected,... so Netflix announced that season 5 will be the last season of The Witcher series. Because Henry Cavill left the role of Geralt after season 3, Liam Hemsworth will be the one to replace Henry in the remaining 2 seasons. Season 4 and season 5 of The Witcher series will be produced continuously this year and next year.

I don't know if Netflix will learn a lesson after this incident or not. They have always been famous for liking to "sabotage original works" and turn potential works into flops. This producer seems to be obsessed with the word "breakthrough" as it always wants to change everything to turn an already attractive movie into a thorn in the eyes of fans. It's unfortunate that The Witcher became a victim for Netflix's writers to freely adapt.
