Kimetsu No Yaiba SS4 Will Only Have 8 Episodes

Just as many viewers speculated, Ufotable had to cut the length of the Kimetsu no Yaiba ss4 anime because the adapted content was too short.

Previously, there were many speculations about the broadcast time of the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ss4 – Hashira Training Arc. The reason is because the original adaptation content is too short and not nearly enough to make a complete anime season (usually 12 episodes). The content in the Hashira Training Arc only lasts a total of nine chapters (chapters 128-136). With only a few chapters, it would be almost impossible for Ufotable to stretch it into a 12-episode season, unless they apply the method of year-round anime like Naruto or One Piece, which is to add a lot of flashback scenes.

Even with a duration of 8 episodes, adapting the limited content of the original is a real challenge for the Studio. Surely season 4 will have more filler to increase the length of each episode, like the way Ufotable used with season 3. Season 4 can be considered a warm-up period before entering the final developments.

Season 4 with the official title Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc is expected to air from May 12, 2024.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gotoge Koyoharu. The work tells the story of teenager Kamado Tanjiro's journey to become a demon-slaying swordsman after his family was murdered by a demon and his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon. After his encounter with Tanjiro, Giyu Tomioka, a demon hunter, sent him to his now-hidden teacher, Urokodaki Sakonji, to train him to become a demon slayer. From here, the audience witnesses Tanjirō's journey to bring his sister back to human form and avenge his family.

The content of the Hashira Training Arc begins when Tanjiro goes to meet the Stone Pillar - Himejima, who will train him to prepare for the upcoming battle. Himejima Gyomei is a notoriously serious and strict member of the Demon Slayer Corps, so this training will definitely be extremely harsh. Meanwhile, demon lord Muzan along with New Upper-Rank Four Demon - Nakime are still continuing to search for the location of Nezuko and Ubuyashiki.
